Criminal Alerts Enrollment Terms

These terms are written to be read. They cover what Criminal Alerts is, what you may share with us, and what we do with it.

1

What Criminal Alerts is

Criminal Alerts is free ecommerce crime monitoring by CIS. We watch your brand across the marketplace at no cost to you.

When we detect a real event from a criminal-type seller, we send you a short alert. There is no fee for the watch or for the alerts.

2

What you may share with us

Sharing data is optional and it helps us watch better. Brands may share confirmed counterfeit test-buys, product issues, and distributor records such as GTIN, quantity, sold-to, and date.

Retailers may share product-movement theft data only. That means GTIN, lot number, location, and date and time. We never ask for suspect names, employee information, or loss dollar figures.

3

What we do with data you share

We add what you share to the CIS intelligence system, where it joins data from across the marketplace.

We license the derived intelligence to our investigative partners so they can act on it. We also use it in our published research and, where relevant, in expert testimony.

We state these uses here so no use is a surprise. Shared brand data of this kind is disclosed by brands in the ordinary course of business, so it is not treated as confidential.

4

How we send alerts

Alerts come by email only. That is deliberate. The alert tells you an event is real and worth your attention.

The full intelligence behind an alert is separate paid work, and only if you choose to act on it.

5

You never have to buy anything

Enrollment in Criminal Alerts carries no obligation to ever buy. You can stay on free watch and act on nothing.

If an alert lands and you want the full intelligence, that work is paid. The decision is always yours.

6

Your contact information

We use your contact details to send your alerts and to reach you about your enrollment. We do not sell your contact information.
